NutriGenie Optimal Nutrition has some attractive features but is difficult to use. With 27 buttons in the menu, marked with icons and without text, navigation is virtually impossible. NutriGenie does offer a Glycemic Index for diabetics and other medically related trackers for those with diet restrictions and other conditions. You'll receive feedback on the quality of your diet, but that may not be enough to stick with this program. Top-rated programs DietMaster 2100, Nutrinote and DietPower are far better programs in every regard.
NutriGenie's main focus is maintaining optimal health, so the program includes several analysis functions like diet planning, nutrient intake, caloric distribution and glycemic index analyses. NutriGenie also has tools to find your target heart rate, body mass index, and cholesterol profile.
The software is compatible with current, popular diets—such as high-protein and low-carb-and can mesh with the diet guidelines given by reputable health organizations like the Institute of Medicine.
The program has several impressive menu choices, some unique to the NutriGenie. For example, it offers a caloric analysis of diet, a nutrient analysis of diet, body mass index and target heart rate calculations, a cholesterol profiler, a blood pressure log, and a set-fat warning level. The program contains recommended dietary intakes of macronutrients, fiber information, and a glycemic index database.
But NutriGenie lacks an exercise log database, so you can't track the relationship between daily activity and caloric burn.
