Mealformation Reviewer's Comments
Although the Mealformation program accomplishes these tasks, the program lacks standard features like an exercise log, weight and nutrient history tracking, and export and import capabilities.
The Mealformation program has three major parts: a personal profile, a food database and menu management. The personal profile lets you enter data to track the value of your nutritional intake. The food database includes food nutrient values, recipes, and meal planning tools. Menu management has a food diary, an analysis tool and a shopping list generator.
Unfortunately, Mealformation doesn't offer an exercise database. Without this, there is no way to track the direct relationship between daily physical activity and caloric burning.
Mealformation is also missing other convenient features, like goal-setting tools, weight and nutrient history tracking, and a body composition screen. If the manufacturer added these, tracking success would be easier.
Ease of Use:
Mealformation is an easy-to-use program with help available on each screen. We had some difficulty with the food database screen, though. In order to select foods, we had to type the name of each item precisely as the manufacturer had entered it. Although the search application helped, a pull-down menu would be far simpler.
Help/Support:
Mealformation's help is simple, informative, and detailed. It includes FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions).
Summary:
Mealformation displays the nutritional value of your food and has tools to set up meal plans and menus. But there are several other nutrition software programs available for about the same price that also track weight, export and import data, log your exercise, and monitor progress.
